We finished most of the renovations of our house last summer and although I installed a new sofa last spring and had added a couple of furniture pieces, I had sort of lost steam with finishing our living room. This room was part of the addition we added to our home and apart from the kitchen, it is definitely the room we spend the most time in. Our favorite feature is the wood burning fireplace we added. I’ve had samples hung up on the mantle for the better part of two years, and I was really having analysis paralysis with the direction I wanted to take it. A few months ago, the marketing team at Annie Selke reached out and asked if I’d like to do a whole room makeover using some of their products! I happily accepted—this was such a great opportunity to finally finish this room! After lots of consideration, I decided to go with one of their classic jute and cotton rugs, the Harwich Natural Handwoven Jute Rug. This is one of the Mark D. Sides collaboration with Annie Selke rugs. I loved the visual interest of the pattern mixed with the simplicity of the natural colors and simple jute weave. I love adding a natural element to my designs and this fit the bill perfectly. It was also so nice that Annie Selke does lots of their rugs, including this one in a 10x14, as I needed a big rug to fill my space!
After I had chosen my rug, it was time to choose pillows. I’m not prepared to admit how out of place my temporary pillows looked and it was time for a change! Annie Selke has such a wide variety of pillows, it was actually kind of hard to decide. I immediately gravitated toward their Gehry Linen/Velvet Pillows in Nude. I had a feeling they were going to be the perfectly compliment with my blush sofa and I was right! I wanted to add a little bit more color in, so I chose the Jolie Embroidered Blue Decorative Pillow in a 16 X 24. It is so lovely in person. All of the flowers have an embroidered detail on them and which adds interest and makes them feel special. I love how the aqua color plays off the photography behind the sofa. The leopard sofa across the room needed pillows too, so I chose the Gehry Linen/Velvet Pillows in Stone. They were the perfect soft neutral to offset the statement leopard! I was absolutely thrilled when the pillows arrived with down inserts to stuff the covers with. They make the pillows so fluffy and lovely to lay on, but they keep their shape beautifully and are so easy to fluff and style.
I needed one other thing to round out the room, and that was a throw. We almost insulated our home too well, and I get cold at night when we hang out in the living room! I wanted something simple and natural, so I chose the Langham Oatmeal Throw. I love how lightweight it is, which is perfect for year round use in Texas! It’s also a throw I actually want seen, rather than hiding it away in a basket! I love how it looks with my sofa and blends with the pillows.
Annie Selke has been a favorite vendor for clients for years, and I was so excited to use them in my new home to redesign my living room! They have such a wide variety to choose from and I am always so impressed by the quality! Their rugs are such a great option for a good quality rug that will last and they have a fabulous selection across price points. These pieces completely transformed my space and really made it feel complete! A huge thanks to Annie Selke for reaching out and helping me finish my living room!
