A Very Sixties Sunday.....

I had a VERY Sixties Sunday out at the man-friend's family Lake House on Sunday.
We went out to look at some of the furniture that was moved from his grandparent's house a few months ago.

His mom knows what a fan of anythings 1960's vintage I am, so she offered me two x-benches that she didn't want.

They are gorgeous!

I have them under my dressing table for now.
And that window pane mirror is a left-over from my "Shabby Chic" days.
I'm desperate to replace it.

And I must admit that I am really excited that they're authentic and so unique.
At first I was thinking that they would need to be recovered immediately, but after seeing the fabric in person, I'm not sure that they do.

The fabric is in pristine condition and I LOVE the navy background.
My mom laughed when I sent her a close-up of the fabric.

"Oh, yes! I remember that fabric from the 60's! Everyone had it...."

It must have been this fabric that inspired Celerie Kemble to design her Hothouse Flowers fabric/wallpaper for Schumacher.

We were looking in a neighboring house that belongs to their extended family but is no longer used,
and I spotted a cream campaign style etagere.
I was squealing in delight.
" Do you think we can have that once they clean this house out?!" I asked the man-friend excitedly.

From what I could see through the window, it's in PERFECT condition.
What a find.

It looks very similar to these below.

I just adore campaign style furniture, whether an authentic antique or a reproduction.

Especially when it's lacquered white like this.

Mad Men Inspires.... Once Again.

I've been finishing up the third season of Mad Men on DVD. As always, I'm pretty thrilled with the decor.

I am IN LOVE with this green/white stripe tent at the Sterling's garden party.
I spend most of the time watching Mad Men thinking about my imaginary love affair with Don Draper.
And now I'm thinking about my love affair with this tent.

I'm also pretty into the re-do of Betty Draper's living room.

As you'll recall,
this is what it used to look like...

And after the re-do...

Alright, Let's talk about this.
1. AMAZING Orange sofa. LOVE the lines of it.
2. Gorgeous orange edged cornices and curtains. STOP IT. Too good.
3. Gold Coffee Table
4. FAN-freakin-TASTIC cane print chairs.

Those cane print chairs made me think immediately of this Chartreuse Schumacher Fabric

And then my decorating wheels started turning.

Very much like this book.....

So Here's what I'm thinking for a Draper-esque living room

This Schumacher Wallpaper.

This gorgeous bamboo mirror from Pieces....

Over this console, also from Pieces

This sofa from Room Service

Covered in the St. Tropez fabric from Schumacher

Paired with these chairs from Pieces

Covered in the cane print fabric

With this chevron print rug from West Elm
And two of these Room Service side tables flanking the sofa

With these Pieces lamps

And this gold/glass coffee table from Pieces
Love these greek key lowballs from Pieces to serve drinks in your living room!

And I'd top the couch with tons of green/gold Madeline Weinrib pillows

Tada! A pretty green room worthy of a Mad Men set!

1960's Design meets 21st Century Fashion.....

I tell Brian frequently that I wish I could live my life in the early 1960's. Mainly, I'd like to always be dressed like the girl in pink above.

And live in Palm Springs.....

And drive a 1960's Mercedes SL Roadster.

What A Simple Time.

The pink dress above is from the Louis Vuitton Cruise 2011 Lookbook which came out last month.

If you haven't yet taken a gander, here are some highlights.

The book looks suspiciously like it was set in Palm Springs at The Parker Hotel

My favorite part of the Parker, the gorgeous door framed by retro cinder blocks

If I had a 1960's mid-century modern house, I would totally paint the front doors a gloss orange and have white cinderblock panels like this....

And pictured here in the LV Cruise 2011 Lookbook

And here again in the LV lookbook.
I love how they incorporated the retro design of the hotel into the lookbook.
It fits the clothes perfectly.

The bright orange outdoor seat cushions are awesome. They could brighten any boring backyard.

I love this retro inspired cream epi leather handbag

This dress is fabulous, but the mahogany leather chesterfield sofa is AMAZING. Always wanted one like it.

I digress, but I saw a smaller version in powder blue in the Horchow catalogue yesterday and totally swooned over it. It's not a true chesterfield style, but I still love it.

So ladylike. SO 1960's.

I'm sorry, but who doesn't want LV luggage and a train case?

I love the wall behind her. That stone is very mid-century mod and it's gorgeous.
